What is a Cystogram?

Please arrive at the medical center 30 minutes before your scheduled test time.
Your examination will be interpreted by a Radiologist (physician specializing in medical imaging). The Radiologist will dictate a report that states your exam results. The report will be typed and sent to your physician. You can make arrangements with your physician on how you will receive your exam results (such as follow-up appointment, calling the physician office, etc.).

A cystogram procedure is where a nurse will place a urinary catheter (small tube) in your bladder. Contrast media will be introduced into the bladder through the catheter so it can be filmed when it is full. Films will be taken by a radiographer and reviewed by a Radiologist (physician specializing in medical imaging).
PREPARATION:
No prep needed.
LENGTH OF THE PROCEDURE:
The procedure will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
SPECIAL NOTES:
You will be asked to wear a hospital gown for the examination. If you are also having an IVP (intravenous pyelogram nephrotomogram) or a Nephrotomogram on the same day, you must follow the preparation designated.
