Dr. Craig Mitchell came to Central
Illinois Radiological Associates from the Children’s
Hospital of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he
held appointments in both the Departments of Radiology
and Pediatrics as a Pediatric Radiologist. He attended
medical school at the College of Osteopathic Medicine in
Kansas City, MO., and graduate school at the University
of Kansas where he received a master’s degree in
Biochemistry. His internship in internal medicine was
completed at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA.
He subsequently spent two years as a general medical
officer at the Naval Weapons Center, China Lake, CA.,
followed by a diagnostic radiology residency at the
Naval Medical Center, San Diego, CA. He completed a
one-year fellowship in Pediatric Radiology at USC/Children’s
Hospital of Los Angeles and then returned to San Diego
where he was division head of the section of diagnostic
radiology when he left the Navy in 1996. He has also
completed two mini-fellowships in Pediatric
Interventional Radiology at the Hospital for Sick
Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and at the
Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Mitchell holds memberships in many
medical societies such as Radiologic Society of North
America, American Roentgen Ray Society, Society of
Pediatric Radiology, American College of Osteopathic
Radiology, Pediatric Oncology Group/NCI, and American
College of Radiology.
His dedication to education is
prevalent with his many scientific papers, manuscripts
and scientific exhibits presented on local as well as
national levels. Additionally, Dr. Mitchell recently
published a book chapter on the imaging of Mϋllerian
anomalies in the pediatric patient. Dr. Mitchell was
co-author of five talks and scientific posters at the
recent 42nd Annual Meeting of the Society of Pediatric
Radiology in Vancouver, British Columbia.
