Dr. Porter received his undergraduate degree from Drury College in Springfield, Missouri in 1983. He earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri in 1989. His internship was at Garden City Hospital, Garden City, Michigan from 1989 to 1990. He served his residency in Diagnostic Radiology also at Garden City Hospital from 1990 to 1994.

Dr. Porter is a member of the American Medical Association, Peoria Medical Society, American College of Radiology, American Osteopathic College of Radiology, Radiology Society of North America, American Roentgen Society and the American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Porter joined Central Illinois Radiological Associates in 1996.
