Dr. Safvi received his medical degree
from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at
Chicago in June 1994. He completed his first year of
Radiology Residency at the University of Minnesota in
Minneapolis and graduated from Radiology Residency at
Northwestern University in Chicago in June 2000. Dr.
Safvi completed a one year Interventional Radiology
Fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and
Clinics in June 2001.
Dr. Safvi holds a lifetime certification from the
American Board of Radiology, has a Certificate of Added
Qualifications in Interventional Radiology and a
lifetime certification by ARDMS as a registered vascular
technician. He is currently a member of the Radiology
Society of North America, Society of Interventional
Radiology, IMI and the ACR. Dr. Safvi maintains
licensure in Illinois, Alaska and Iowa.
Dr. Safvi contributed to several research projects
including Molecular Biology at the University of
Illinois at Urbana College of Veterinary Medicine,
Radiology/Nuclear Medicine at the University of Illinois
at Chicago, Anesthesiology at the University of Illinois
at Chicago and Bioacoustics at the University of
Illinois-Urbana, Department of Electrical Engineering.
In addition, he has made several presentations since
1995, the most recent being a poster presentation “Renal
Artery Induced Hypertension and Its Treatment” at the
IMI annual meeting in August 2002. Dr. Safvi has
authored four publications to date. His most recent
article “Multiphase 3D vs. 2D TOF MR Angiography in
Pedal Vessels” was co-authored by Drs. Sharafuddin,
Stolpen, Sun and Leusner and published in the Journal of
Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Safvi joined Central Illinois Radiological
Associates October 1, 2007.
