Dr. Gary Zwicky is a Peoria native and the son of
George Zwicky, M.D., radiologist with CIRA, who practiced at Saint
Francis from 1956 until his retirement in 1991. Dr. Gary Zwicky received
his undergraduate degree from the Tulane University of Louisiana, New
Orleans, Louisiana in 1978. He earned his medical degree from the
University of Illinois, Chicago in 1984. He completed his residency in
Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago,
Illinois in 1988 and served as Chief Resident in Radiology during his
final year.
Dr. Zwicky received certification by the American Board of Radiology and
returned to his hometown, joining Central Illinois Radiological
Associates in 1988. His professional interests include Magnetic
Resonance and Sports Medicine Imaging. He has led the development of
Teleradiology in the central Illinois region and oversees the
development of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (ImageNet)
at OSF Saint Francis.
Dr. Zwicky has served as Director of MRI and Vice-Chairman of the
Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging at OSF Saint Francis Medical
Center since 1991, and served as Chairman from 1999-2001. Dr. Zwicky is
a Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of Illinois College
of Medicine-
Peoria. He is a member of the AMA, RSNA, ACR and Clinical Magnetic
Resonance Society. He is a past-president of Central Illinois
Radiological Associates and the Central Illinois Radiological Society.
Currently serving as a Councilor for the ACR, Dr. Zwicky also served as
President of the Illinois Radiological Society, the state chapter of the
American College of Radiology for 1998-99.
Dr. Zwicky was elected as a Fellow in the American College of Radiology
in 2003. Dr. Zwicky was elected President of the Medical Staff at OSF
Saint Francis Medical Center for the 2005-2007 term.
